About Roythornes Solicitors

Our reputation is based on providing practical and comprehensive solutions to the challenges and opportunities faced by our business and individual clients.

Community involvement
We believe in being an active part of our community. For us, that means using the skills and enthusiasm of our people to help local groups achieve great things.

Many of our staff are involved in charity work on a personal basis, and this is something the firm encourages. On a firm-wide basis, we hold a number of events throughout the year for a variety of good causes including the well-publicised Children in Need and Comic Relief. We also support local charities, and often sponsor clients when they are fundraising themselves.

We participate in the Government's 'positive about disabled people' scheme, which ensures that those with disabilities are treated equally and fairly in our job application process - guaranteeing an interview to disabled people who meet the job criteria.

Our place in the environment
As trusted advisors, we work hand in hand with businesses and people directly involved in looking after the land and the environment. It is, therefore, very important to us that we also do our part.

Environmental issues are at the forefront of much of our activity and we try to engage with like-minded individuals and businesses that share our ethos. To this end, we are determined to make sure that, whilst we carry out our work, any detrimental impact on our surroundings is kept to a minimum.

We became members of Investors in the Environment in 2013 – an organisation that supports businesses in their quest to become more eco-friendly. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 we were presented with their ‘Green Star Award for Outstanding Achievement’. In 2019 our operations director also achieved a green champion award.

Some of our initiatives:

- installed LED lighting at our Spalding office to reduce our carbon footprint and energy spend;
- encouraged staff to recycle wherever possible, including crisp packets, with any income generated being donated to our chosen charity;
- encouraged departments to work on a ‘paper-light’ basis;
- reduced our overall carbon footprint by 41.9% over the last 5 years;
- replaced plastic milk cartons with glass bottles in our Spalding canteen;
- taken part in a number of schemes including Green Week, Zero Waste Week, Stationery Amnesty and Cycle to Work.

We are extremely proud of our achievements so far, and delighted that our staff members are fully engaged with our determination to maintain a “green” culture. It is they who frequently suggest new and innovative ways for us to work smarter to further improve our performance. And what’s more, they initiate projects which often have a link to charity, so making the benefits two-fold.
